5 Ways to Reduce Stress

Stress is a natural part of life, in fact, a certain amount of stress is actually healthy for humans. The excitement that we feel in certain situations, such as preparing for athletic competition or riding our favorite amusement park rides, produces short-term reactions that make us feel energized and alive.

These changes are what psychologists call eustress, or in other terms, “Good Stress”. Conversely, acute stress, or “Bad Stress”, occurs when our bodies require a quick reaction to certain situations.

Our bodies are designed to handle stress on a short-term basis, and too much stress can have a harmful impact upon our physical and mental well-being.

There are plenty of options for a person to choose from when handling stress; some are healthy, while many are harmful. Rest, diet, exercise, and supplements are just a few of the options for those seeking healthy alternatives to combating acute stress.

CBD users have cited the benefits in adding edibles and topicals in alleviating stress and overall wellness. Cannabis has been used for centuries due to its beneficial properties. Most commonly credited for: pain relief, reduced anxiety or feelings of depression, less inflammation or nausea, improved heart health, and better focus or sleep.

In 2018, The Farm Bill legalized hemp-derived CBD and analysts predict the industry will reach $20 billion in the United States by 2025. Currently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not regulate the use of CBD, nor do they provide recommendations for dosages.

Prior to any life change regarding your health, please consult a physician or trusted medical professional to discuss all concerns. When selecting CBD products, do some research, and choose a quality source by examining the product’s COA(Certificate of Analysis) to ensure that it has been tested for purity, and is free of THC or harmful contaminants.

The following are just a few ways to reduce stress alongside using CBD.

1. Sleep

Many adults struggle with getting a good night’s rest. It is recommended that adults sleep for approximately 7-8 hours daily. Quality sleep is a cornerstone for our overall health and vitality; even a quick twenty-minute nap may provide an additional boost of energy. CBD has been cited for improving mental clarity and increasing energy levels while reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation; both may lead to improved sleeping patterns.

Try using our softgels to assist in reaching your optimal sleep goals.

2. Breath-Work Techniques and Meditation

To promote relaxation simple breath techniques or meditation may be the right solution for you. We recommend a 3-6-9 technique along with meditation.

The technique requires a quiet space, closure of the eyes, taking a breath through the nose for 3 seconds, holding for a 3-second count, and releasing through the mouth for 3 seconds. Repeat 3 times, clear your thoughts, and focus on being in the present.

Should you choose an even deeper relaxation state, our Full Spectrum CBD Tincture may assist in your desired result.

3. Cold Showers

Reset your body and mind with a cold shower. While this may not appeal to everyone, there are benefits from cold showers. Cold showers have an effective impact on relaxation and reduction of pain. The stimulating sensation of cold water can re-energize the mind and build the body’s resiliency, both allow your nervous system to adapt quickly from a stressed to a rested state.

For those who may be hesitant, start by ending your current shower time with 10 seconds of cold water and gradually increase over time.

Applying our skin cream after a cold shower will keep you glowing inside and out.

4. Limit Your Screen Time

Easier said than done! Most of us have a complicated relationship with our devices. On one hand, they serve a purpose for our professional and personal lives. On the other, they can induce added mental or emotional stress.

Taking a break from the amount of time we spend in front of a screen or intentionally selecting the content we choose may assist in reducing stress in our lives.

We find that our gummies provide an added level of calmness and relaxation from our fast-paced world.

5. Pet a Dog

Yes, you read that correctly. Studies show that petting a dog for 10 minutes can reduce cortisol(stress) and increase oxytocin(happy) hormones in the human body. This interaction can reduce anxiety or negative feelings, and assist in creating a positive emotional state. The side benefit, most dogs will love it too!

Our dogs love our pet treats made from the highest quality ingredients. Before petting or giving dogs treats, seek permission from the dog’s owner. Additionally, prior to giving your dog CBD, consult with a trusted veterinarian.
